Victims of bullying suffer from anxiety/depression
The victims of bullying at the workplace could suffer from extreme stress and anxiety. They do not enjoy coming to work and this results in a drop in productivity and performance levels. They will stop feeling a sense of belonging to the organization and there will be higher levels of sickness absenteeism observed. It can affect the mental health of a victim to a great extent and he/she could even resort to drug use.
There are various studies conducted which show a clear relation between workplace bullying and mental health. The bullies want to intimidate and belittle the victim and make him/her feel insecure about themselves and their work. The victim begins doubting his/her own abilities and they could slip into depression. This is why it is important to speak up at first because with time, the bullying only gets worse.
