Bullies tend to target people who are introverted, anxious or submissive and see them as easy targets. They are aware that extroverted and assertive people would stand up to them and would not fear taking legal action and filing a serious complaint against them. They target workers who are already insecure about their professional ability and are extremely shy and submissive among colleagues.

It is important to note that the personality of a worker gives indications as to who is bullied and not why bullying occurs. It is important to understand that workers who are introverted, anxious or submissive become easy targets for bullies and employers should be able to determine potential employees who could be targeted and introduce preventive measures to protect them at the workplace. Bullies are heartless and targeting employees who suffer from anxiety is cowardly.
