Mom: This book would not exist without you. You took the time out to teach me. Every concept started with a story from my own life. I had already experienced computational thinking. You gave me the names.

Whenever I got stuck, you never gave me the answer. Not once!! You just asked me questions until I found it myself. That was very annoying at the time. But it worked.

You also never let me skip ahead. When I wanted to build the Sherlock Holmes game on Day 1, you said, “Not yet”. You gave it to me on Day 12. By then, I actually knew what I was doing.

Thank you for guiding me and staying with me until the very end!!

Dad: Thank you for editing the book.

Sruti and Sachi Fai: Thank you for giving me 7 Habits of Happy Kids when I was six. I loved it so much that when I sat down to write this book, I borrowed some of its characters. I think Sean Covey would be happy to know his characters went on more adventures.

K and Q: You’ve always inspired me. You are in chapter 8.

Vasu: You are in Chapter 10. I know you are only 2 and cannot read this yet. But while I was doing this project, your life helped me understand some concepts. Your feeding schedule helped me understand patterns, and your toys on the floor helped me understand categorization. By the time you can read this, I will be much older. I hope you like it!! — Your didi, Sabi

Chapter 6 is dedicated to Jun Shihan Hardeep & Senpai Chit Heer.

Nidhi ma’am you taught me to practice everyday. Chapter 1 is dedicated to you.

Rashmi Ma’am: When you read this book, you will meet a teacher called Madam Hoot. She is strict but fair. She always has a reason behind every rule and gives second chances when they are deserved. When I was writing about Madam Hoot, I was thinking of you.

Kiran ji: You made patterns fun. Actually fun, not pretend fun. Your puzzles were interesting and tricky… they really racked my brains!!

Srinivas ji: You taught me a memory game. I didn’t fully understand it then. I get it now. Looking back, you were using computational thinking.

Yoj: You are in Chapter 11. You figured out the Opposite Ray. That was all because of our code language that we invented. Thank you for being the kind of friend who invents secret languages with me. — Ibas

Buyum, Kreeday, Veer-raj: I really have fun drawing, reading, and playing with you. You are in Chapter 2 and Chapter 5.

And to whoever is reading this book: Thank you for picking up a book written by a 9 year old about something as serious as computational thinking. I hope Fern, Sophie, Pokey, Midnight and the rest of them made it a little less serious and a little more fun.

– Sabi
