Hummus: A creamy, protein-rich spread from the Middle East. Packed with heart-healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Great for dips and sandwiches. Delicious and nutritious!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups (250 grams) cooked chickpeas (soaked overnight)

  • 1 large lemon

  • 1/4 cup tahini/ sesame seeds

  • 1 small garlic clove, minced

  • 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • In a food processor or mixer-grinder-blender take the roasted sesame seeds. Powder it to fine or semi-fine texture.
  • Add 1 teaspoon chopped garlic, 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon cumin powder and salt as per taste. Grind or blend to a fine or semi-fine consistency.
  • Next add the cooked chickpeas.
  • Grind or blend till smooth and light. If you are unable to grind, then add 2 to 3 tablespoons water. I prefer adding oilive oil instead of water to make it creamier.
