About the speaker: Vachana is an Associate at Janaagraha where she is focused on policy research and advocacy around decentralised urban governance. She leads the development and creation of one of India’s flagship reports on urban governance, titled the ‘Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems (ASICS)’. She is also the project lead for Janaagraha’s Councillor Leadership Development Programme, engagements with politicians, and academic partnerships. She also manages ‘City Politics’, a pan India forum aimed at creating a collective voice for systemic urban transformation. She has contributed to the Urban Vision Document 2030 developed by the NITI Aayog and the Economic Survey of Government of India in 2016-17. She has keen interest in the field of urban governance, specifically in areas such as urban laws, decentralised urban service delivery and metropolitan governance.
