Micro-green Gardening as a Learning Tool for Toddlers

Sabi is two and a half years old, and we believe it’s the right time to introduce her to the values of care and responsibility towards living things, including herself. This encompasses daily routines like brushing teeth, maintaining hygiene, and exercising.

We figured the best way to instill these values through experiential learning: a tangible experience she can engage with.

Thus, we decided to plant micro-greens in our balcony, entrusting Sabi with the task of watering them daily. There were days she would forget, and the effects were apparent as the plants seemed to droop.

This ongoing project introduced her to the concept of delayed gratification—investing effort today to reap rewards later. After weeks of nurturing her green charges, the day arrived when Sabi eagerly harvested her little crop. The joy on her face was unmistakable as she enjoyed the salad she had patiently grown over time.

Things to purchase: Mini Garden Toolset, Cocopeat, Microgreen Seeds, Potting Soil.
